Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
ParkCaptain LLC (“ParkCaptain,” “we,” “us”) built this Service to plan real family trips, which means we handle real, sometimes sensitive family information — including about children. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It’s meant to actually describe what we do, not to be boilerplate.
If you have questions this policy doesn’t answer, contact us at privacy@parkcaptain.app.
1. Who This Applies To
This policy covers information collected through the ParkCaptain website and application. It does not cover third-party sites we link to (like Disney’s own booking pages) or third-party sign-in providers, which have their own privacy practices.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. Your email address, and depending on how you sign in, information from your sign-in provider (currently Google) such as your name and profile photo. If you enable multi-factor authentication, we store what’s needed to verify it (not your authenticator app’s secret in a recoverable form).
Your family and party information. To build a plan, we ask for details about the people traveling: names or display names, dates of birth (used to compute age-appropriate ticket pricing and ride eligibility — never stored as a static age, so it stays accurate as time passes), height (only collected if a prioritized attraction actually has a height requirement affecting a child), mobility equipment or accessibility needs, and dietary requirements or restrictions. If you’ve used the Service before, we may also store a reusable “Family & Friends” roster at the account level to save you re-entering this for future trips.
Trip planning information. Your preferences (pace, budget approach, crowd/wait tolerance, dining style, must-do experiences, and similar), your lodging and transportation situation, and details of any existing bookings you tell us about (confirmation numbers, dates, locations) — including bookings you paste in as free text or forward, which we process using AI to extract structured details for your confirmation before anything is saved.
Payment information. Handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic transaction metadata (plan purchased, amount, date) — we do not receive or store your full card number.
Your communications with us. Messages you send to Ask Parky (our in-context AI assistant), support requests, and refund or account-related communications.
Automatically collected information. Basic technical information needed to operate the Service (like session and authentication data) and first-party product usage signals (such as which screens you use and whether an action succeeded) that help us understand how the product is used. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to: build and update your Blueprint; process your purchases and manage your plan quota; authenticate you and secure your account; send transactional communications (purchase confirmations, plan-ready notices, security alerts) and, if you opt in, our newsletter; respond to support requests and refund requests; detect and prevent misuse of the Service; and improve the product based on aggregate, de-identified usage patterns.
We do not use your family’s information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Information About Children
The Service is not directed at children, and children do not create their own ParkCaptain accounts or interact with the Service directly. Information about minors in your party — such as a child’s date of birth, height, or dietary needs — is entered by you, the adult account holder, as their parent or legal guardian, for the sole purpose of planning your family’s trip, and is treated with the same care as the rest of your account data described in this policy.
5. AI Processing
Some features — generating your Blueprint’s narrative sections, Ask Parky’s conversational answers, and extracting structured details from pasted text — are powered by Anthropic’s Claude models. Relevant trip and party information is sent to Anthropic to generate these responses. Anthropic processes this data under its own API terms and does not use API data to train its models by default. We do not send your payment information to Anthropic.
6. Who We Share Information With
We share information with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to operate the Service:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing |
| Anthropic | AI-generated narrative content, Ask Parky, and extraction from pasted text (Section 5) |
| Resend | Sending transactional and newsletter email |
| Supabase | Authentication and database hosting |
| Railway | Application hosting |
| Sentry | Error monitoring, to help us find and fix bugs |
| Sign-in (if you choose Google sign-in), and place/resort lookup data | |
| Park Queue Times, Visual Crossing, and similar current-data sources | Park wait time, crowd, and weather data — these providers do not receive your personal information; we query them for public park/weather conditions, not about you |
Collaborators. If you invite a collaborator to view or help plan your trip, that person will be able to see the trip information you’ve chosen to share with them, per the access level you grant.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ParkCaptain, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If ParkCaptain is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy you’re notified of.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we hold it for a 30-day grace period — during that window you can log back in and cancel the deletion, no harm done. After 30 days, we permanently delete your personal information and trip data (identifying details, Blueprint content, revision history, existing bookings, and your Family & Friends roster). We retain only anonymized, aggregated product-usage signal that can’t be traced back to you or your family (for example, “a trip was planned, this many days, this pace preference” — nothing identifying).
Deleting your account does not reach any PDF or other export you’ve already downloaded to your own device — we don’t control copies once they leave the Service.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Regardless of what state you live in, we give you the same core rights: to access the personal information we have about you, correct it, delete it, and receive a copy of it. You can handle most of this yourself in your account settings — review and edit your information there, and delete your account and data as described in Section 7. For anything you can’t do yourself in-app, contact us at privacy@parkcaptain.app and we’ll respond within 45 days.
We don’t sell personal information and don’t use it for targeted advertising, so there’s no “opt out of sale” mechanism to offer — there’s nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy and add the required mechanism before it does.
As our user base grows — including outside the U.S., if that ever happens — some states and countries may impose additional requirements on top of these baseline rights. We’ll expand this section to reflect that as it becomes relevant, rather than waiting for a full rewrite.
You can opt out of our newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email; you cannot opt out of transactional emails necessary to operate your account (like purchase receipts or security alerts) while your account remains active.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure authentication (including optional multi-factor authentication), and access controls limiting who can see your data internally. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously given the nature of the information involved.
10. Where Your Data Is Processed
Our infrastructure providers are based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you (such as by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect.
